    A Letter from the Principal
    Posted on 09/05/2017
    Back to School Welcome!

Hello Meany Mountain Lion students and families! This is Ms. Oatis, your school principal. Welcome to the first week of our new school opening.

On August 31st we had our Ribbon-cutting ceremony. It was really nice to see so many of you here. My favorite part was seeing the students walking through the halls. Their approval through smiles, comments, questions and general excitement made every moment of this planning year worthwhile. Your students are why we love this career choice.

Important information for the first day:

We all want our students to arrive to school safely. Please use Republican driving west to east ONLY for parent drop-off and pick-up. Our school busses are the only vehicle traffic we would like on 21St during pick up and drop off.

We are also requesting that students walk to their classes by themselves. Please support your student and the school in making this transition. We will ask parents to remain in the lobby or commons as students head into the building for their first class. I wanted the first day to be laser focused on the students so, I will not offer a parent orientation Wednesday morning nor will staff be available for unscheduled meetings. Please allow the staff to put all their energy and focus on your students. I will offer a parent orientation on October 3rd at Curriculum night.

Please remember that students may arrive on campus at 8:35 a.m. There is no supervision before that time. When you come to the school to pick up, drop off or visit, please check-into the main office first. While waiting, please make sure that you keep the lobby and commons clear enough for others to safely and swiftly enter and exit the building.

Expect to hear robocalls from me weekly. Other places that you can look for school information are; the SPS Website, the PTSA website, the Meany Facebook page and we will also soon introduce the Mountain Lion Newsletter.

See you on Wednesday. Have a fabulous end to your summer!

    Ms. Oatis, Principal
