    What is Schoology?

    Schoology is the District's Learning Management System, a tool for communicating with students and families through teacher pages. Teachers use Schoology to post course content and assignments, provide resources and other information for students, and to review and accept student assignments, among many other things. Students can access Schoology from any computer or mobile device with Internet access. 

    What is the difference between Schoology and the Source?

    The Source is where parents/guardians, and students go to see their current schedule, assessment scores, attendance, library information and secondary student grades. See information on the Source below.

    How do I login to Schoology?

    Teachers and students can login to Schoology using their district and password. Students do not create accounts, they are members by being enrolled in the class. 

    Parents and guardians will need to create an account to login to Schoology using an access code. You can find your access code by logging into the Source and selecting Schoology Access Codes from the left menu. (If you do not have a Source account, please see the information below on how to create one.)

    To Create a Schoology Account:
    1. Log onto your Source account by going to
    2. Click the Schoology Access Codes menu item on the left.
    3. Copy and paste or write down your Schoology access code. (If you have more than one student, you will enter the remaining access codes later using the + Add Child feature.) 
    4. Click the Sign up for Schoology LMS button.
    5. Enter the Access Code and click Continue.
    6. Fill out the form with YOUR name, valid email address, and create a password.
    7. Click Register. If you only have one student, you have completed your registration!

    Can I use Schoology on a mobile device or tablet?

    Yes. Apps are available for both iOS and Android devices.

    What can parents see in Schoology?

    Parents can view courses, assignments, and calendars for all their students. Parents cannot view submitted assignments, comments from other children in the class, or assignment grades.

    I have multiple children in the District. Can I view all my children under my Schoology account?
    Yes. With Schoology, it's easy to add additional children to your parent account. Here are some 
    step-by-step instructions on how to add additional children.

    Why do I only see one school on my right menu? 

    Schoology displays the school of the first student you added to your account when you registered.  To see all schools, select All Children from the right menu.

    What do I do if I forgot my password?

    If you have forgotten your password, please contact your school librarian or teacher to have it be reset.

    The Source

    The Source is Seattle Public Schools’ online communication tool that allows parents, guardians and students access to schedules, attendance and assessment scores. Secondary student grades are also on the Source.

    Please log onto your Source account, click "Add Students" and follow the steps.

    Not Registered With The Source? Here’s how to get started:

    Before you set up a Source account:
    1. You must be on record as the parent or guardian of a student enrolled in Seattle Public Schools.
    2. Your email address must be on record at each student's school.
    3. Please make sure you have provided the same email address for each SPS student in your family.

    To set up a Source account:
    1. Please visit and click the Set Up button.
    2. Type the email address on record at each student's school, then click Enter.
    3. Check your email for a message from If you don't receive this email:
        - Check your Spam or Trash folders.
        - Contact the school(s) to provide your email address.
    4. Open the email and click the link.
    5. Enter your Username (the email address on record at the school) and create a Password.
        - Your password must be 5 or more characters long.
        - Please do not use an apostrophe ' in your password.
    6. Click Enter to begin exploring the Source!
