    Principal Update August 28, 2020

Hello Meany Mountain Lion Students, Staff and Families. This is Ms. Oatis, your school principal.

Thank you so much for your patience during this time. As a Seattle Public Schools parent, I empathize with your concerns and frustrations with the slow release of information. Please know that as soon as things are approved, I will communicate them immediately.

I hope you have been receiving my SchoolMessenger emails this week. I have sent two letters; one that was welcoming you to this school year and the second was introducing you to our staff.

The consistent ways that I will communicate are:

    • Weekly Robocalls (School Messenger) – Friday evenings you will receive a voicemail and an email from me. It is important that you listen to the call and read the email. The email usually has more information and important links.
    • Chats with Chanda – This will be an opportunity for parents and guardians to come and talk directly with the principal about their questions, comments or concerns.

Laptop Distribution – Meany Middle School Laptop Distribution will be Monday, August 31st -Thursday, September 3rd from 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. If you have a scholar who will be brand new to Meany in the fall, please come pick up a laptop during one of those times. If you are a 7th or 8th grader who missed the Spring laptop distribution, please pick up at this time as well. Please meet at the back entrance of the school on 20th Ave E. If you or your student is unable to come during this window, please contact Mr. Foyston via email or by calling the main office at 206-413-2100 to make alternate arrangements.

Yearbook Distribution - Second opportunity to pick up yearbooks will be Monday, August 31 - Thursday, September 3 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. If you would still like to purchase a yearbook you can order them directly through your Source account, or through SchoolPay. You may also purchase one in person with cash or check. The cost is $30. Please let Ms. Marshall know if the cost is a barrier, and your family needs financial assistance to purchase a yearbook.

We look forward to working with your students. Please stay safe, healthy and remember the Meany ROAR:

    • Be Respectful
    • Take Ownership of Your Choices
    • Have the Appropriate Attitude
    • Be Ready and Responsible
