    Parent Welcome Letter August 2020

Dear Meany Middle School Scholars and Families,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! We are excited to begin the year with our wonderful Meany Middle School scholars and families. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, scholars will begin the school year learning online. There will be no students at the Meany Middle School building at this time. Our teachers are eager to get back to in-person learning because we know that online learning is not the preferred model. We are committed to making this experience as great as possible for our families. Our vision statement speaks to the importance of being a community of life-long learners. We want that for ourselves and for our scholars. This year, we really get an opportunity to put that into practice. This will be different, it will be challenging but, I know that we will make it exciting and fun! We are committed to racial equity that leads to equitable access for all students. We are also committed to providing our students with high-quality instruction that promotes academic and social-emotional excellence. By working together, we can collectively ensure success for Meany Middle School.

It continues to be an honor for me to be the principal of Meany Middle School. I am overjoyed to be returning for my fourth year! Although this year will begin in an untraditional way, I have always loved the first days of school. It gives me an opportunity to meet new scholars and families. I am also equally excited to see all of our returning scholars again. I will be announcing new and creative ways to continually connect to our scholars and families.

New Parent Orientation, Friday, September 4th (9:05 – 9:35 am), for parents/guardians who are new to Meany (all grade levels). This event will be a time to learn more about our school and meet some staff. I hope you can join us for this important meeting.

    Reminder of Important Dates:

    • New Family Orientation—Friday, September 4th, 9:05 to 9:35 am
    • First day of school for ALL STUDENTS, Friday, September 4th.
